During my PhD I developed a method to examine the role of motor and somatosensory cortices in memory encoding of body-related images. The images below reflect different aspects of this work. Overall, my results suggested that we remember others’ bodies by using the same areas of the brain that we use to feel and move our own body; click to enlarge the images below.
‘Hidden rhythms of the body, reveal’
During my Postdoc I started to study interoception, which refers to the influence of our inner bodily organs upon cognition. Here I made the images below to fluctuate according to my own heartbeat and respiration.
